Good Friday

"Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, . . ." Matthew 27:35

"And when they had crucified Him, . . ." Mark 15:24

"And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right, and the other on the left" Luke 23:33

"Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts . . ." John 19:23

How is it, one of the most important keys to our faith, the crucifixion, gets half a verse out of each gospel? The passages dealing with the death of Christ are short. There are no details of the punishments, just that they happened.

Tonight, at a Good Friday service at church, I believe God showed me something. The reason no details are given is because these punishments, crucifixions happened all the time. Jesus was put up between two thieves; not murders or rapists, just thieves. Mark talks about how people passing by mocked Him. They didn't stop to look, they just kept on going, nothing much to see.

My Savior, the Creator of the universe, God Almighty, killed like a common criminal. He came out much in the same way He came in. Born in a feeding trough, but acknowledged as King. Mocked as King, killed along with two robbers.
