Back

So, I'm back. I'm not ready to totally reveal all of the trip and I haven't quite replayed through all of the experiences enough to be able to line them out in a comprehensible order. The nice thing about a short trip like this is that it is all fresh in your mind. You don't have to dredge up the initial impact feelings and memories from arrival.

I'll be sending out a C-mail soon (actually a K-mail, you'll see) but there a number of things I want to talk about specifically on this blog soon:

Socialism and the specific situation in Venezuela
Differences I see between the barrios in Caracas and my experiences with the poor in Peru
Fatalism or Purpose: Are results necessary in seeking the Kingdom or only obedience and what attitude do we carry in that?

As for now, I'll be spending the next week deciding about whether I want to commit for 2-3 years to InnerCHANGE (another decision) or whether I will continue to search for another group or postpone for a year. I promised my parents that I would not make this decision while I was there. Also the folks on the team didn't even give an official invitation because they wanted us to process everything once we were back. So pray for wisdom and clarity to hear God's voice and leading this week. Right now I feel rather confident in my position but I need to be open to my Lord.

Beyond that, I just want to thank everyone who prayed for me. I was safe and have come back with out harm and a greater appreciation for the time and effort needed to learn a language. Also thank you so much for all the emails and supports. They are greatly appreciated. And feel free to comment here too.

Just to close, one brief insight into the country: Black beans are not called "frijoles negros" but "caraotas". Just to clear that up.

Cameron,

I was praying for you during your time away and am really looking forward to hearing details as they come to mind, stories, and just as you process it all.

I'd be interested to hear about InnerCHANGE as they are one of the groups that caught my attention at Urbana. I'm currently looking for a field placement starting in September 2007 for a minimum of 3 months... possibly a year. So if you could pray about that as it comes to mind it'd be awesome.

But yea totally looking forward to it and glad to hear you're back safe and sound!
